The crash involving three tractor-trailers and an SUV happened in the eastbound lanes of I-78 at milepost 49, near Route 100, in Upper Macungie Township just before 5:20 a.m. on Oct. 4, authorities said.
All lanes were closed and detoured to Route 863, Pennsylvania State Police said.
The 27-mile closure shut the interstate down from Exit 23: Shartlesville interchange in Berks County through Exit 49A: Route 100 South in Lehigh County, PennDOT's 511PA showed.
The area was closed until 2 p.m., according to Allentown State Police Trooper Nathan Branosky.
Branosky noted that only minor injuries were reported but did clarify how many people were hurt.
